Jinny Kim named a "Top Labor & Employment Lawyer" by the Daily Journal
The Daily Journal has named Senior Staff Attorney Jinny Kim to its annual "Top Labor & Employment Lawyers" list, which honors leading attorneys in California whose work is making an impact on society and the legal profession. Jinny is an accomplished civil rights litigator, who has, throughout her 14 year career, advocated for the employment rights of disabled workers.
She currently serves, along with Joshua Konecky of Schneider Wallace Cottrell Brayton Konecky LLP, as counsel to a class of deaf workers who allege that Home Depot violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act by failing to provide sign language interpreters at key social and workplace events such as interviews, trainings, and meetings; and by refusing to allow deaf employees to operate forklifts.
On February 2, 2012, final approval of a ground breaking settlement was reached; it contains unprecedented equitable relief for the class in scope and reach. The settlement has set the gold standard for accommodations, and will serve to enhance the ability of deaf and hard of hearing workers to be fully integrated into the workplace.
