LAS-ELC Awarded Shartsis Friese LLP Public Interest Fellowship
We are honored that we have been selected as the host organization for a two-year Shartsis Friese LLP (SF LLP) Public Interest Fellowship. This Fellowship will allow us to launch the Vietnamese American Workers Rights Project, which will provide free legal assistance to low wage workers in the South Bay.
The Fellowship was established by SF LLP to provide a recent law graduate with the opportunity to join a legal services organization and provide direct assistance to members of poor communities in the Bay Area. Recruitment for the SF LLP Fellow will begin shortly and the project will open its doors in September of this year.
The project will be modeled after our long-running Workers’ Rights Clinic and will help working poor clients who are the victims of discrimination, wage theft and other illegal treatment on the job.
We are deeply grateful to Shartsis Friese LLP for its longstanding leadership in supporting nonprofit organizations and for its commitment to the principle of access to justice for all.
