Mobile Workers’ Rights Clinic Travels to Madera
This past Saturday, LAS-ELC, in partnership with OneJustice’s Justice Bus Project, provided free legal assistance to nearly 20 low-income workers in Madera, CA as part of the Mobile Workers’ Rights Clinic.
The Clinic took place at the Madera County Law Library and provided low-income Madera residents free legal advice and referrals for problems ranging from wrongful termination and wage and hour violations to workers’ compensation and benefits questions.
The clinic was supervised by LAS-ELC’s Mike Gaitley and Ana de Alba from Lang, Richert & Patch, and legal counseling was provided by eight students from Stanford Law School. “We were very grateful to work with so many clients, particularly people who had questions regarding their workplace rights in the agriculture industry” Gaitley said. “The Madera County Law Library was a terrific partner in this effort, and we are pleased to continue working with OneJustice to bring needed legal assistance to under-served areas.”
