Bill McNeill Honored by NAACP and BASF
Bill McNeill, Director of LAS-ELC’s Racial Equality Program, was recently selected by the NAACP as a "2014 Unsung Hero of Black History" and by The Bar Association of San Francisco as an "Outstanding Volunteer in Public Service". The NAACP honored Bill for his lifelong dedication to ensuring that all people get fair employment treatment.
In particular, the NAACP recognized Bill’s work integrating the San Francisco and Las Vegas fire departments, fighting for black workers in a shipyard in Biloxi, Mississippi, and arguing countless cases that have made the workforce more equal.
The Justice & Diversity Center of The Bar Association of San Francisco recognized and thanked Bill for his longstanding volunteer work providing free legal services to low-income workers at on-site clinics in Bayview/Hunters Point. Four the past four years, Bill has also volunteered weekly at an employment legal clinic in the Western Addition.
We are so pleased that Bill's invaluable service to the community has been recognized in these ways, and we are proud to call him a colleague. Congrats, Bill!
